Welcome to the South Carolina Innocence Initiative!

The South Carolina Innocence Initiative is a multi-disciplinary organization based at Wofford College that examines the problem of wrongful convictions and advocates for justice. Its platform is dedicated to education, outreach, and advocacy.

2024 South Carolina Innocence & Justice Conference

The South Carolina Innocence Initiative will hold its inaugural Innocence & Justice Conference on May 3, 2024 on the Wofford College campus in Spartanburg, SC. This conference will bring together leaders in the legal arena to examine the causes, challenges, and remedies associated with cases of innocence and wrongful conviction in South Carolina. It will focus on client advocacy in preventing wrongful conviction, strategies to investigate cases post-conviction, and a path forward to reimagine innocence efforts in South Carolina. This year’s conference theme is Charting the Course.
